Buddha Gives You His Blessing

The Buddha assumes poorna-padmasana atop a freshly bloomed lotus the lotus pedestal is indispensable when it comes to Hindu and Buddhist iconography. He is clad in His characteristic off-one-shoulder raiment, the dense embroidery and ample folds of which have been sculpted superbly realistically.

Medicine Buddha
The right hand is raised in vitarka mudra (the dharmakachakrakar gesture), while the left hand rests on His lap and carries the all-healing medicinal potion that forms the foundation of Tibetan medicine.
The quality of the workmanship is best gleaned from the countenance of the Buddha. Once one goes beyond the beauteous brow, the slender nose, and the lotus-roopi mouth, a composure of the deepest dhyana state and superlative bliss ananda emerges. His both eyes are shut, and a hint of the third could be zoomed in on on His temple..

Dense masses of curls are gathered atop His head in what could be said to be a Buddhist jaatamukuta ('jaata' is Sanskrit for 'hair'; 'mukuta', for 'crown'). The lobes of His wizened ears reach midway through the thrice-rimmed neck, which is indicative of the conch-like sweetness of His voice. The lotus petals of the pedestal have been carved with great detail and finesse, which is best appreciated by zooming in on the same.

The Ethereal Majesty Of Shiva-parivar

They are joined by Ganesha and Kartika, each of which has been carved with their intact iconographies. From the adorable elephant's head of Ganesha, the fat child in his form and the gigantic laddoo in his hand; to the radiant beauty of Kartika and the sublime proportions of its form. Like their parents, their shringar is impeccable and their position is one of great benevolence and blessing.

Shiva-Parivar

They are each found on a lotus pedestal in much smaller layers, which together with the seat of Shiva-Parvati are placed on an elaborate support decorated with engravings of petals. The halo is equal to maginificence. The transparent details on each layer - the outermost wave-shaped curves, followed by the twisted lotus petals, the smooth edge as if it were a halo, more twisted petals and two rings engraved with rangoli motifs - distinguishes this ensemble from the statue run of Shiva-parivar.

The Ganesha Silhouette

A graceful tilak marks His temple, reaching all the way down to the base of His long curvaceous trunk. The adornment along the tapering length of His trunk is characterized by brief, rangoli-Esque curves. The eyes on either side of the trunk have all the vigor and innocence of a divine child. The features are given a natural gold-colored finish that look amazing against the base tan of His complexion. The undulations of His gigantic ears are also colored the same gold, making it look marvelously lifelike. Note the broken tusk on the left of His face, leading to the very telling name of Ekdanta (meaning 'single-toothed' in Sanskrit).

GaneshaSilhouette

This Ganesha murti has a long torso, replete with the signature baby fat of His iconography. A long angavastram is draped over his shoulders, which cascades symmetrically down on either side of Him all the way down to His folded legs. The dhoti is tied way below the navel in order to make room for His potbelly, its silken folds as realistic as brass could get. The hands and feet of the deity are a matching gold-tone, their delicate shape a fine example of endemic Indian workmanship. Do not miss the sumptuous laddoo on the palm of his left hand.

Lord Krishna Overpowers And Dances Murals Distinguish

Murals distinguish the folk art of Kerala. A fine tradition to be found in the temples and palaces dotting the Malabar coast, the earliest examples are to be found in Tirunandikkara and Tiruvanchikulam, dated from the ninth to the twelfth centuries. The one you see on this page is a contemporary specimen of this ancient means of art, and conforms to the post-fifteenth century style of Kerala murals.

The waters of the dishevelled Yamuna swirl around them as witness to this historic episode. The same have been depicted with simple cloud-like curves filled in with a powdery blue blending out into white. The vibrant colour palette of the Lord's form in the foreground makes a powerful, aesthetic statement. The shocks of fiery orange vines that flank His expressive face, His superbly gathered composure in the midst of battling evil, and the matching peacock feather-crested crown and shringar, complete the picture of Hinduism's most charming deva.

The Yogic Roopa Of Lord Mahadeva

The smooth musculature of His form to the realistic stance and composure of countenance, it is the medium that lends these things to the work of art. It is with a great deal of skill that the finest-quality marble has been sculpted and polished to give it the inimitable svaroopa of the Lord.

White Marble Sculpture

those eyes on that haloed face that are teeming with life and wisdom is the third eye of the yogi, further above which is a sliver of the moon in His dreadlocks. Note how the pristine Ganga emerges from the coil on top of His head, a quintessential part of Lord Shiva's iconography, like the naga (serpent) that has wound itself around His shoulders and the janeu that lies across His torso.
                                                                  Bhagawan Shiva

With a hand raised in blessing, it seems from the stance of His feet on the rather minimalistic pedestal that He is on His way through the mountains and not static, which is in keeping with the asceticism of His personality.

Hanuman, A Jewel Amongst Yogis

Lord Hanuman remains as the best case of human brilliance. He is the best of Rama-fans, having stayed in this world for whatever length of time that the Ramayana is discussed, even after the remainder of the characters left for parloka (the consequent domain of presence). He is the child of Anjanadevi and Vayudeva, and coached by none other than Sooryadeva Himself. Insidious as He was as a tyke (the mark facial structure that loans Him His name is the consequence of a rebuffing pass up an irritated Indra), He grew up to be a yogi of the most noteworthy request, having achieved every

one of the eight of the traditional ashta-siddhis of yoga. It is this roopa of His that has been portrayed in this wood-cut sculpture, wherein He is situated in a poorna-padmasana with His palms united in the dhyana muda and the eyes shut (the look is coordinated inwards).

The excellence of Ramayan's most splendid character has been caught in this hindu sculpture with incredible ability. The attractive substance of the Lord is confined by a semi-roundabout corona, the excitement of which has been passed on with various levels of etching. Wide shoulders and strong arms offer route to a well-characterized middle pursued by appendages of perfect quality. Magnificent shringar and a dhoti of silk, the creases of which are spread on the platform directly underneath where He is situated, effortlessness His structure. The three-layered platform is the most strange part of this arrangement. The highest level is engraved with lotus petals; the center level has reversed lotus petals superimposed with His mark weapon, the prod; and the third level has a blossom in full sprout at the middle.

Making Music That Makes His Devotees Break Into Ecstatic Dance

Of the considerable number of characteristics that make Lord Krishna his identity, it is His ability with the flute that catches the hearts of lovers. Spread crosswise over the subcontinent as well as the world, lovers never feel sick of His music. He sits in one of Vrindavan's numerous meadows and hauls out His woodwind, the sound of which achieves the occupants inside the city. The music that is exuding from His woodwind communicates a godliness and a nature of adoration that will be found in no other religion on the planet. As the sound of the flute skims crosswise over space into the ears of His sweethearts, they abandon everything and rush through common breaks to assemble around Him. This sculpture of the singular Krishna playing on His woodwind is surprisingly unique.

One could nearly observe Him encompassed by a cluster of adoring gopis, defeated by the music as much as their affection for him, as they move around this situated Krishna. He is enchanting as ever; His levelheadedness of face, content; His spine, erect. The dhoti and the scarf assemble in similar window hangings around His energetic build. His shringar is atypical of Hindu iconography, gold and gems flourish. His adequate tresses are held set up by a turban-like wrap with a gem and a peacock quill at the middle. Note the sensible lines engraved underneath the temples, a Vaishnava tilak arranged in the midst of the equivalent. A sign of the stone worker's expertise is the thoughtful hands and feet that characterize the creation.
